Transformations Beyond the Threshold of Perception
Collaborative multimedia installation | SPRING/BREAK Art Show, Hide N Seek | New York, September 2026
Belén Millán and Randy Jayne Rosenberg / Curated by Art Works for Change.
Through the juxtaposition of genetically modified organisms and marine life colonizing synthetic waste, The Spidergoat in the Mirror examines how human interventions are reshaping living systems beyond the threshold of perception. Bringing terrestrial and marine ecosystems into dialogue, the installation explores the increasingly unstable boundaries between the biological and the technological, the natural and the manufactured. Plastic film, recovered fishing nets, sculptural forms, moving images, and sound construct a speculative environment in which seemingly fictional transformations reveal the material realities of a post-natural world. The work questions not only what remains imperceptible, but also the economic and technological forces driving these transformations and our capacity to recognize the worlds we are producing.
How much can change while everything looks the same?
